Washington Square is a nationally-distributed literary journal publishing fiction and poetry by emerging and established writers. Edited and produced biannually by the students of the NYU Graduate Creative Writing Program, Washington Square also sponsors an annual literary contest and hosts an annual benefit reading in New York City.

The deadline for the Washington Square Award is approaching soon! The judges for this year's award are Jonathan Safran Foer for fiction and Matthew Zapruder for poetry and Anne Carson for collaboration. Postmark Deadline: February 1, 2010. Winners will receive $500 and publication in a forthcoming issue and/or the website, depending on the medium of the selected work.
